The Wintersteiger Flatness Tester is a 4" x 1/2" (10 cm x 1,27 cm) diameter bar ground to .0005 tolerance heat treated and black oxide treated. Place the true bar on the base in the tip, under the binding, and on the tail. Check for flatness by looking for light under the true bar in the middle or by the edges. On most skis you will notice that the base is slightly concave. Depending on how concave the base is will determine how difficult the ski or snowboard is to turn.An important tool to have to insure a perfect tune!
